Issuance of Green Cards Delayed

The USCIS recently reported that it is experiencing processing delays of up to 8 weeks for lawful permanent resident cards. The delay is reportedly the result of an upgrade to USCIS card production equipment.

All applicants with approved petitions for lawful permanent residency may obtain temporary evidence of his or her LPR status at a local USCIS Field Office. Applicant's who have not yet appeared for their interview should take their passport to the interview and the adjudicating officer will issue a I-551 stamp in your passport as evidence of your approved lawful permanent residency at the time of your interview.
