Beneficiary's assets

Hi,

My wife, a USC, will be petitioning on my behalf (Australian citizen) via the CR-1. One issue is that she in a 4-person house hold and will not meet the 125% above poverty line requirement.

Can I use the equity in my property here in Sydney to show financial independence - with evidence of legal valuations? This is over $200,000 liquid once the property is sold. Are the beneficiary's overseas assets acceptable to US Immigration? We would prefer not to have a co-sponsor because of the large 5-people household. I am already supporting my wife financially and very happy to have an instant family.

Thanking you in advance. A Yes/No answer is acceptable too if you are busy.....

Regards,

Rick.

Assets Used to Meet Affidavit of Support

Hi Rick, you probably can use your assets to make up the difference but they generally require the value of the assets to be 3 times the deficiency between the sponsor's income and the deficiency. Hope this helps.
