2011 Visa Lottery Program Registration
The U.S. Department of State recently announced the registration period for the 2011 Diversity Visa program. The Diversity Visa program, also known as the DV Lottery, is a U.S. immigration program that grants immigrant visas to 55,000 applicants from qualifying countries each year. The qualifying countries change each year based on the previous years immigration rates. Only those countries who are determined to be under represented in U.S. immigration may qualify.
The registration period for this year's DV lottery begins Friday October 2, 2009 at noon Eastern Standard Time and concludes on November 30th 2009 at noon.
Nationals of the following countries are NOT eligible for this years DV lottery:
BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, POLAND, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.
Nationals of countries not listed above may apply during the application period.
